Energy Springing from the Second Chakra

Powerful energy centers, chakras, are located in the body from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Having explored the root chakra in the previous blog, the sacral chakra is the second one, located below the navel and on the back at the lumbar spine. This chakra is characterized by the color orange and the element of water. If the sacral chakra is blocked, it can result in rigid repetitive thoughts, fear, and possibly grief. When the sacral chakra is balanced, an individual may exhibit wellness, joy, creativity, pleasure, flexibility, and sensuality. Life flows like a calm river, allowing adaptability in choices, a balanced flow of emotions, and ultimately transformation.

Letting go and releasing from fear and single-mindedness can occur during yoga practice. Nourishing the soul by expressing oneself through yoga, dance, art, and writing can restore the sacral chakra. In addition, foods that nourish the body can also stimulate the process of healing and include those high in healthy fats. These foods consist of the following food groups:

Salmon or other fish rich in omega-3

Nuts high in protein to strengthen and allow oils to flow

Seeds such as pumpkin, flax, sesame and sunflower

Coconuts containing milk and healthy fat

Orange foods such as oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes, peaches, mangoes, and

pumpkins

Think creative food choices to improve and keep the second chakra fine-tuned. Select foods such as pumpkin pecan bread or muffins, sesame or flax seed toppings, smoothies made with any orange color fruit, and yogurt mixed with peaches or mangoes and topped with nuts. Think orange color foods to add to a feeling of well-being and pleasure! As a bonus, wear an orange color shirt!
